Upcoming Events: Book Arts Jam October 20th 10-4

It’s time again for one of my favorite annual events, the Book Arts Jam put on by the dedicated artists and volunteers of the Bay Area Book Artists. Saturday, October 20, 2012. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

I’ll have a table again this year and will have artwork in the member’s exhibition. More details later this week. (I’m currently fighting with my new printer and until a few minutes ago the printer was winning. I wondered if I’d have any new work to share at all!)

This day long event features artists’ books, altered and sculptural books, pop-ups, miniature books, boxes, handmade and marbled papers, bookbinding demos, and letterpress demos. You’ll also enjoy a variety of speakers, vendors, a member’s exhibit, make and take activities and a slide show of Artists’ Books.

Check out the Book Arts Jam poster.

The Book Arts Jam is at a new location this year, the Lucie Stern Community Center in Palo Alto. Admission and parking are FREE!

The artists’ talks this year are all sure to be interesting and worthwhile. I’m going to have to recommend two in particular. Eleanor Murray’s “Not to be Judged by their Covers Alone: Curating for the Book Arts” and Rae Trujillo’s “Oh that’s a Good One: The Role of Humor in Book Arts.” If you haven’t yet had the chance to enjoy Rae’s books, many of them hit the funny bone just right! Check out her website, here. I’m definitely going to try to get Greg to cover my table so I can attend those talks.

Some other new goodies this year. Food will be provided by MoBowl. I checked out their menu and it’s going to be hard to choose between the Five-Spice Pulled Pork and the Peanut Pesto Chicken. I think we’re definitely going to have to try the Cheesecake Eggroll!

Looking forward to seeing you there. Don’t forget to put next Saturday, October 20th on your calendar.

    • Tom, Thanks for the offer! So far so good, but I’m sure going to keep your info available. Do you want to post a link or give more information about your services here? I’m happy to provide space so that others can benefit from your expertise. ~Ginger

  2. I have been following your blog for a while now. I loved watching your new studio being built. As a calligrapher, bookbinder and paper artist, I have enjoyed and been envious of your studio with all its storage and work area.

I have nominated you for a Beautiful Blogger Award.

If you accept, please go to
